“Caring and Sharing. The Heritage Environment as an Agent for Change” 

The aim of the Conference:

The ENPI CBC Black Sea JOP Project ALECTOR is a first attempt at Black Sea Level to equally offer dislocated audiences the chance to create their personal place-bonding with cultural assets presented independently of place and time, promoting the Project region at global level with exceptional cognitive-emotional heritage experiences.

The Project’s International Conference aims to communicate to multiple target publics the project achieved results, methodologies and planning strategies developed, local implemented pilot applications using the international experience in the heritage sector and more particular in the conservation, protection, management and communication of heritage.

The Conference “Caring and Sharing: The Heritage Environment as an Agent for Change”intends to sample contributions from the international academic community and share across multiple target publics project results achieved, methodologies developed and planning strategies suggested, offering at the same time an international forum on issues regarding the sustainable place making and the dynamics of cultural values for regional and local development. In this way comprehension and support of local governments and related decision makers along with the awareness of the general public, will be raised and maintained.

We are inviting submissions of both theoretical and empirical research papers related to the following specific topics:
1. Standardization in tourism- a new approach based of R&D and ICT;
2. Local developments and international networking through heritage products and services; Climate change and the historic environment, natural and cultural heritage risks and hazards;
3. Smart specialization and financing of local tourism development based on heritage valuing an assessments;
4. Teaching methods for novel professional profiles, future experts in heritage, tourism and hospitality industries, including cultural communication and the interpretation of heritage;
5. Anthropological cultural heritage, tangible and intangible heritage assets as a main identity pillars for socio-economic development and community cohesion;
6. Topics in natural heritage management, architectural conservation and protection of monuments and fabric.

The list is not exhaustive. For additional thematic sessions a minimum 10 submitted papers are requested. The submitted papers should have different authors and not with the same institutional affiliation.

A paper should respect Elsevier format and to have a length of 6-8 pages, including annexes and references. For one paper, a maximum number of 4 authors is admitted.
A maximum 2 papers per author are accepted.

Only papers that are presented in the Conference’s sessions will be published in Conference Proceedings and will be published on-line.

There is no participation fee for the Conference registration.

A study visit will be organized in Şile on the 2 nd of June 2016. For social events (lunchs, meals and coffee breaks during conference) and study visit participation (lunch, dinner and transportation) is free up to a maximum limit of 120 participants.

The travel and accommodation is in the participants’ responsibility. The event is located near the Governorship of Istanbul’s headquarter (Address: Ankara Cad. 34410 Cağaloğlu/Fatih-İstanbul) in historical peninsula. Important dates:
March 10 th, 2016 – abstract submission
March 15 th , 2016 – abstract acceptance notification
March 30th , 2016 – full paper submission and early registration
April 20th , 2016 – full paper acceptance notification
In the case of revising recommendations, the deadline for paper final version submission is April, the 30th, 2016. Any delay will exclude paper from publishing in the Conference volume.
May 15th, 2016 late registration

The Conference Proceedings will be published in an international Elsevier journal hosted by Science Direct and will be indexed in Science Direct, and Scopus. The International Conference Proceedings will be submitted for inclusion in Conference Proceedings Citation Index by Thomson Reuters.

The access to Procedia- Social and Behavioral Sciences through the internet shall be granted on a free and perpetual basis on Science Direct, subject to Elsevier’s online terms and conditions of use.

All submissions have to be made ONLY through the Conference Management System. All papers must conform to Elsevier standard single-column format and must be submitted as “word” and “pdf” file format not exceeding 8 pages including text, figures, tables and references.
